About The Goat Inn

The Goat Inn is an historic pub nestled in the heart of St. Albans.

Behind the bar we have a large selection of cask ales and draught beers for you to get stuck into, as well as an ever-growing selection of spirits including our premium gin and rum menus. Throughout the week we serve our fabulous stone-baked, Italian pizzas (look out for our house special, ‘The Galleon’!) and over the weekend we have a full menu of hot bar food and snacks for you to enjoy. On Sunday afternoon you can join us for our famous carvery, with you choice of four local meats, gorgeous crispy roasties and all the trimmings!

There has been an inn on the site we now occupy since 1587, and much of the historic architecture and original features survive to this day. When you pay us a visit, why not check out the ancient timber beams and original carriageway arch which have sheltered drinkers here for many hundreds of years. Keep an eye out as well for any ghosts which you might catch lurking in our old building. Back in 1756 our little inn could host as many as seventy horses at once, but as the industrial age took off, we ended up holding people instead – fifty four could once fit in to our place!

Why not Pop in today for a pizza and a pint. We serve at least four cask-conditioned ales and a range of lagers on draught, we are a proper pub in St. Albans, housed in a beautiful, centuries-old building with a large beer garden. We also stock a full wine, gin and rum menu, as well as a fully-stocked top shelf of whiskies.
